About JEE Main College Predictor

What is JEE Main College Predictor 2026?

A JEE Main college predictor is a tool that helps estimate the chances of admission in engineering colleges and branches based upon:

  • JEE Main rank
  • Category such as General, OBC, ST, SC, EWS
  • Gender i.e Male, Female
  • Home state i.e domicile state

Instead of manually visiting multiple college websites and cutoff PDFs, we combine JoSAA cutoff trends with a wider database of 10,000+ engineering colleges in India. This helps you check NIT, IIIT, GFTI and broader college options from one place.

Students usually have too many doubts regarding cutoff like:

  • Which NIT can I get at my rank?
  • Which is the best college in my home state where I can pursue Computer science Engineering?
  • Do I qualify for IIITs?
  • Which colleges should I keep as backup?
  • How does my Home State affect admission?

How the JEE College Predictor Works?

  1. 1Enter your details

Provide your JEE Main CRL rank, Category, Gender, and Domicile state (from 12th board). These are the most important factors that influence admissions.

  2. 2Compare with cutoff and college data

    Your rank is matched with:

    • Opening and closing ranks by college
    • Category-specific cutoffs
    • Home State (HS) vs Other State (OS) quotas
    • Gender-neutral and female-only seats
  3. 3Get realistic college options

    Results are grouped into:

    • 🟢High Probability options
    • 🟡Medium Probability Options
    • 🔴Low Probability options

This helps you build a balanced shortlist for JoSAA and other engineering college options.

Predict Colleges by JEE Main Rank

The fastest way to use this JEE Main college predictor is to enter your CRL rank, category, gender and home state in the form above. The tool compares your details with cutoff trends and college data to show NIT, IIIT, GFTI and wider engineering college options.

Results are grouped into high, medium and low probability choices so you can build a practical college shortlist instead of guessing from cutoff PDFs and scattered websites.

Have Percentile? Convert It to Rank First

JoSAA counselling works with ranks, not only percentile. If you only know your JEE Main percentile or expected marks, first estimate your rank and then use that rank in this college predictor.

Use our JEE Main Rank Predictor to convert percentile or marks into an expected rank range, then return here to check college possibilities.

JEE Main Predictor Coverage Across India

This predictor is designed for JEE Main counselling options, including NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and a wider database of engineering colleges across India. Each institute type follows different quota, seat-pool and admission rules, so your exact result depends on rank, category, gender, state and the college you are checking.

JoSAA Predictor 2026: How This Tool Uses Cutoffs

The predictor uses JoSAA cutoff trends such as opening rank, closing rank, category, gender pool, institute type and quota. For 2026 planning, these values are treated as trend signals, not final official allotment results.

Actual counselling outcomes can change because of seat matrix updates, candidate preferences, round-wise movement, branch demand and CSAB participation after JoSAA.

GFTI College Predictor for JEE Main

GFTIs can be important choices when you want government-funded options beyond NITs and IIITs. Their closing ranks and quota rules vary by institute, so checking them through rank-based prediction is better than relying on one generic cutoff.

BIT Mesra

Popular GFTI with strong branch demand through JoSAA/CSAB

IIEST Shibpur

High-interest option for students comparing GFTIs with NITs

PEC Chandigarh

Commonly searched for branch-wise opening and closing ranks

Sant Longowal Institute

Useful backup option depending on category, branch and round

Colleges Covered in This Predictor

The predictor covers JoSAA institutes and a wider database of 10,000+ engineering colleges in India. For JoSAA-specific planning, these are the core institute groups:

31
NITs
e.g., Trichy, Warangal, Calicut - ~24,000 seats
26
IIITs
e.g., Gwalior, Kota, Guwahati - ~8,500 seats
47
GFTIs
e.g., BIT Mesra, IIEST Shibpur - ~9,400 seats

NITs, IIITs and GFTIs together offer around 40,000+ seats through JEE Main counselling every year.

For taking admission in NITs you can check out our NIT College Predictor for NITs specific college predictor.

Home State vs Other State Quota Explained

Your domicile state plays a major role in many institutions like NITs.

Home State Quota (HS)

  • Applies if the state from which you completed 12th board matches the institute's state.
  • Around 50% seats in NITs are reserved for Home State candidates.
  • Required ranks are usually less competitive than Other State quota.

Other State Quota (OS)

  • You compete with students from all over India.
  • Cutoffs are generally more competitive.

Example: General rank 30,000 might get NIT Trichy under HS (Tamil Nadu) but not OS. The tool applies HS/OS based on your state.

Female-Only Seats in JoSAA

To improve gender diversity, many institutes offer female-only supernumerary seats.

If you select female category, the predictor includes:

  • Gender-neutral seats
  • Female-only seats

This can increase admission chances significantly.

Understanding Your Admission Chances

Results are classified to help you balance your list:

🟢High Probability

Your rank is comfortably better than the previous cutoff. Admission chances are strong.

🟡Medium Probability

Your rank is close to the previous cutoff. Admission depends on counselling trends.

🔴Low Probability

Your rank is slightly worse than the previous cutoff. Admission is possible but competitive.

A balanced choice list should include all three categories.

Why Use a College Predictor Before Counselling?

JoSAA has multiple rounds with quick seat filling. A predictor helps:

  • Create realistic lists of colleges with courses
  • Avoid random choices
  • Reduce stress during counselling
  • Plan before seat allotment begins

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this college predictor accurate?

This predictor provides estimates based on previous JoSAA data.

2. Can I get into an IIT using JEE Main rank?

No, IITs require JEE Advanced. This JEE Main predictor covers NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and 10,000+ other engineering colleges in India, but IIT admission requires a valid JEE Advanced rank. For checking IITs you can use our JEE Advanced College Predictor.

3. Why do cutoffs change every year?

Due to exam difficulty, number of candidates, and seat availability.

4. What rank is needed for NIT?

It varies by category, quota, and branch. The tool shows results for your details.

5. When should I use this predictor?

You can use this predictor once your JEE Main rank is released.

6. Is this an official tool?

No. It is an independent tool based on public JoSAA data from official sources.

7. Can I get NIT with 85 percentile?

Possible for lower branches in peripheral NITs under quotas (for example SC/ST).

8. What percentile for NIT Trichy CSE?

Around 99.85+ for General OS (around 1,500 rank, based on 2025).

9. Is 150 marks good in JEE Main?

Around 95-97 percentile; mid NITs ECE or GFTIs are possible.

10. How to convert marks to percentile?

Use the expected marks-vs-percentile table above for approximate conversions.

11. What if I have an EWS category?

EWS has 10% reservation. EWS cutoffs are often around 10-15% below General, but exact values change each year.

12. Can I use it before results?

Yes, by using your estimated rank or percentile.

13. Difference between HS and OS quota?

HS (Home State) and OS (Other State) quota decide which seat pool you compete in during JoSAA counselling. Home State means the state from which you passed your 12th board. Around 50% seats in NITs are usually for Home State candidates and cutoffs are often less competitive than Other State. If your eligibility state is different from institute state, you compete in OS where cutoffs are usually more competitive.

14. What rank for IIIT Gwalior CSE?

Around 7,000-8,000 for General OS (2025 estimate).
